The competition initiated by Maybank provides an artistic platform for aspiring young creatives and is open to all students regardless of their program in public and private institutions of higher learning in Malaysia.

The foundation of the competition is based on Maybank’s core values, represented by the TIGER acronym - Teamwork, Integrity, Growth, Excellence and Efficiency, and Relationship Building.

In support of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that aims to end poverty, promote planetary health, and ensure that communities can enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030, the Maybank MyTIGER Values Art and Design competition this year will focus on 12 out of 17 SDGs. These goals are: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, Life Below Water, and Life on Land.

These goals were selected as they are aligned with Maybank Foundation, the corporate responsibility arm of the Maybank Group’s six pillars that is to create positive, long-term impact in the societies it operates. The six pillars are Education, Community Empowerment, Arts and Culture, Environmental Diversity, Healthy Living, and Disaster Relief.

The competition is divided into three categories: Photo Imaging, Illustration, and Sequential Art - encompassing single to eight-panel editorial cartoon/comics. Participants must submit their artwork in digital format and interpret and present any of the TIGER values or a combination thereof, with a focus on achieving the 12 SDGs through the listed medium. Along with their submission, each participant must provide a statement or rationale of up to 200 words on their work, including their name, contact details, and the title of their work(s).

A high-resolution image artwork (300 dpi JPEG) must be submitted by 1st June 2023. Participants are allowed to send a maximum of three works for one category or one work for each of the three categories. All submitted artwork must be new, original, and have never been exhibited before. The entries will be judged by a panel of judges selected by Maybank Foundation, together with Maybank. Selected works will be printed and framed by the organiser for the MyTIGER Values Art exhibition, which will be open for public viewing from 17 July to 12 August 2023 at Balai Seni Maybank in Kuala Lumpur.

Three major prizes will be selected from each category, with RM6000 awarded for first prizes, RM4000 for second prizes, and RM2000 for third prizes. Additionally, nine jury's special prizes worth RM500 each will also be awarded to selected winners.

Maybank Foundation CEO, Izlyn Ramli said “At Maybank, we have always been committed in supporting the arts and culture scene which is also in tandem with Maybank’s mission of humanising financial services. We truly believe that the arts and culture aims to preserve or strengthen a community's sense of place, forges unique personal identities as well as encourage creativity. We also think that this competition is a great avenue to discover good artists among Malaysians, providing them the space to express themselves. Last year's competition produced some amazing results and we similarly hope to see promising entries this year."
