28 - 30 Mar 2023 – Global Banking organised a Charity Bazaar with more than 30 small local business owners participating to sell their products to Maybankers and members of the public. The bazaar successfully raised RM193,429 in sales for the participating vendors, of which RM27,547 was donated to support Global Banking’s Cahaya Kasih initiatives.
12 July 2023 – Maybank Asset Management Malaysia, in collaboration with J.P. Morgan Asset Management, launched the MAMG Global Dividend Fund, a feeder fund that invests in the JPMorgan Investment Funds - Global Dividend Fund. Offering investors diversified returns, the target fund invests in quality global equities across the yield spectrum, from high dividend-yielding stocks, dividend growth stocks to steady compounders.
27 July 2023 – Invest Malaysia Special Series: National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR)
Invest Series returns with Invest Malaysia Kuala Lumpur, Special Series: Launch of the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), Part 1: Flagship Catalyst Projects and Initiatives.
YB Rafizi Ramli, Minister of Economy delivered a keynote address and launched the NETR, followed by a panel discussion titled “NETR in Propelling Malaysia’s Economic Growth & Sustainability Agenda” between the Minister of Economy himself with YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources, Environment & Climate Change (NRECC), and Mohammed Rashdan Mohd Yusof, Chairman of Energy Commission.
Maybank Investment also launched its Enhanced Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Research, which aims to provide actionable ESG insights for ideating energy transition and decarbonisation solutions for clients across the Group and support the ambitions of the government’s NETR and Low Carbon Aspirations 2050.
07 August 2023 – IB Fabric Recycling Project
In conjunction with Maybank Investment Bank (IB)’s 50th anniversary, Maybank IB launched a Fabric Recycling Project in January 2023 to collect and recycle 50,000 kg of textile waste.
Within a short span of less than eight months, Maybank IB has collected 58,518 kg of fabric for its recycling project, far surpassing its initial goal. The closing ceremony held on 7th August 2023 was officiated by Maybank IB Chairman, Dr Hasnita Hashim, and attended YAM Tengku Datin Paduka Setia Zatashah Sultan Sharafudin Idris Shah, advisor of Kloth Malaysia, and Nik Suzila Nik Hassan, co-founder of Kloth.
The collected fabric is going to be recycled, upcycled or turned into industrial cloth wipes through Kloth Cares.
22 September 2023 – Maybank Investment 50th Anniversary
Maybank Investment Bank (IB) hosted a gala dinner in celebration of its 50th anniversary. Held at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, the gala dinner was attended by IB’s past and present top management executives, staff and its esteemed clients. Guests were treated to scrumptious meals, and entertainments throughout the night of celebration. Two paintings by Rafiee Ghani, a local Malaysian artist were also auctioned during the event, and the proceeds are channelled to Maybank IB’s Cahaya Kasih fund.
27 September 2023 – EICN x Maybank
The Economist Intelligence Corporate Network (EICN), supported by Maybank, hosted a session on “Trade and Industry in Transition” as part of their Regional Strategic Forecast series.
Gracing the event was YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), while moderated by Mr Sumana Rajarethnam, Director, South-East Asia of EICN.
The bi-annual Regional Strategic Forecast entitled “Trade and Industry in Transition” was held at level 46, Menara Maybank and attended by Maybank corporate clients and the corporate members of EICN. YB Liew shared what a transitioning economic means for Malaysia, in the candid discussion with the moderator and audiences.
During the session members discussed how ASEAN has emerged as a beneficiary of powerful structural forces, notably the reconfiguration and shift of supply chains away from China and the green transition, which are shaping and propelling trade and investments into the region.
Earlier this year on 12th July 2023, EICN also held another event on trade titled “What To Do in a World of Shortening Supply Chains”, at level 51, Menara Maybank. The panellists explored emerging trends within global trade and how business leaders should adapt to supply chain shortages in an ever changing geopolitical environment.
The session, also moderated by Mr Sumana, was joined by Mr Tien Long Woon, Managing Director of Federal Express Services (M) Sdn Bhd, Professor Renato Lima de Oliveira, Assistant Professor of Business and Society at Asia School of Business, Mr Mario Utama, Managing Director of Transaction Banking at Maybank Global Banking, as the panellists shared their insights and thoughts on the topic.
