Maybank Appoints New Group Chief Financial Officer

Maybank is pleased to announce the appointment of Mohamed Rafique Merican bin Mohd Wahiduddin Merican as its Group Chief Financial Officer effective 1 June 2012. Rafique,47, will succeed Dato’ Khairussaleh bin Ramli who will be taking up the position of President Director of Maybank’s subsidiary, PT Bank Internasional Indonesia Tbk.



Rafique is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom as well as a Chartered Accountant (MIA). He joins Maybank from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) where he is the Chief Financial Officer since 2009.


Rafique brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the corporate sector, including five years as Chief Financial Officer of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and Malakoff Berhad. Prior to joining TNB in 2009, Rafique has served Radicare (M) Sdn Bhd, the facilities management concessionaire for hospitals in Klang Valley, Selangor, Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang as its Chief Operating Officer initially and subsequently as its Chief Executive Officer. Rafique has also held corporate finance and advisory roles with Amanah Capital Group and Bumiputra Merchant Bankers Berhad in the early part of his career.
