Maybank Announces Four New Senior Management Appointments

Maybank today announced four new senior management appointments into the Group. Hans De Cuyper is appointed Head, Etiqa Insurance & Takaful and Chief Executive Officer of Mayban Ageas Holdings Berhad (MAHB, formerly known as Mayban Fortis Holdings Berhad), Muzaffar Hisham has been named Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Islamic Berhad, Mohamed Adam Wee Abdullah Chief Marketing Officer and Eliza Mohamed, Head of Corporate Affairs.

 

Hans, 42, holds an Executive MBA in Financial Services Industry from Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School in Belgium, along with Master Degrees in Mathematical Science and Actuarial Science, respectively, from Catholic University Leuven. Prior to joining Mayban Ageas, Hans was Managing Director of Risk & Finance at Asia Fortis Insurance International in Hong Kong and was also with ING Insurance, Belgium. He has over 20 years in the insurance industry of which eight years were in Asia. He was the Officer-In-Charge (OIC) / Acting Chief Executive Officer of MAHB since November 2010 as well as was the Chief Financial Officer of MAHB since 2007. He also sits on Board of Etiqa’s subsidiaries.

 

Muzaffar, 39, holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Accounting from University of Bristol, United Kingdom. He has, collectively, 16 years of experience in banking and financial services. He started his career in Corporate Banking and Loan Syndication and later involved in the business growth in Malaysia Private Debt Securities (“PDS”) Market, primarily in the MYR PDS Market during his tenure in Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad and Amanah Short Deposits Berhad. He later served in CIMB Investment Bank and HSBC Amanah, Malaysia.

 

He was appointed as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad which was his last position in CIMB before he joined Maybank.

 

Adam, 43, has 22 years of experience in marketing covering sales, advertising, strategic planning, branding and marketing management. He held senior and regional positions in multi-national advertising and brand agencies handling portfolios in fast moving consumer goods, hospitality & travel, automotive and telecommunications. Mohamed Adam was also regional marketing management in BMW Group Asia responsible for its marketing programmes with BMW Group distribution partners in India, China, South East Asia and the South Pacific Island Nations.

 

Prior to joining Maybank, Adam was the Chief Marketing Officer of Sunrise Berhad and before that the Director of Brand and Advertising in Astro. He is the recipient of two Dean’s Award from the University of Southern Queensland for his Post Graduate Certificate in Business Studies and Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

 

Eliza Mohamed holds a Bachelor of Laws from University of Leeds, United Kingdom and was admitted as Barrister-at-Law of Lincoln's Inn. She has 15 years of work experience comprising initial five years in legal practice and 10 years in the corporate affairs & communications industry, of which four years were with Philip Morris Malaysia and five years with Media Prima. Her exposure also encompasses communications, regulatory relations and corporate social responsibility activities. Eliza played a key role in Corporate Responsibility (CR) initiatives while at Philip Morris Malaysia and Media Prima.

 

Hans and Muzaffar are also members of Maybank’s Group Executive Committee. With their appointments, the Group Exco line-up is now complete with twelve senior executives representing key business and support sectors of the Maybank Group.
