Maybank Islamic Contributes Zakat to Yayasan Islam Kelantan and Majlis Agama Islam Kelantan

A zakat handover mock cheque ceremony by Maybank Islamic was held at the corporate office of Yayasan Islam Kelantan (YIK) and Majlis Agama Islam Kelantan (MAIK) recently. The RM100,000 zakat fund will be utilised for education programmes such as “Seminar dan Bengkel  Kecemerlangan SPM” and “Program Pecutan Akhir STMU/SMU”, particularly by students who will be sitting for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM).

The mock cheque was handed by En. Ahmad Farid Qoureshmi, Maybank Regional Director for Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu (PKT) to Tuan. Hj. Shamsul Bin Abu Bakar, Deputy Director (Management) of  Yayasan Islam Kelantan.

Dr. Ramadhan Fitri, Head of Strategy, MIB said “We strongly believe that quality education is key in uplifting the socio-economic wellbeing of society. Education has always been our top priority as it is one of the key components for growth and progress of the community. Hence, we are pleased to contribute to this cause and support YIK effort to realize the student’s academic goals”

In a separate event, Maybank Islamic had also contributed zakat worth RM688,419.40 to MAIK. The mock cheque was presented by En Ahmad Farid Qoureshmi Bin Md Daud, Maybank Regional Director PKT to Tuan Hj. Zulkifle Bin Ab. Rahman, Timbalan Yang Dipertua, Majlis Agama Islam Kelantan.

En. Munawwaruzzaman Mahmud, Head of Shariah Maybank Islamic said zakat in Islam has been a source of assistance that aided in empowering of human capital. He also added that many eminent Scholars as well as skilled workers were produced with the help of zakat funds, and our hope that our contribution to MAIK will ensure this great tradition continue to grow for a better future of the ummah.
