Maybank Islamic Centre of Excellence hosts knowledge-sharing sessions with International Banks

Maybank Islamic Centre of Excellence continues its thought leadership initiatives by hosting knowledge-sharing sessions with two established Islamic banks from the Arabian Peninsula and African continent on 18 and 19 September 2018 at its head office in Dataran Maybank, Kuala Lumpur.

During the 2-day session, delegates were given an overview of Maybank Islamic which included strategy, operations, products and governance. The session also showcased the progressive level of Sharifah compliment products and processes that Maybank Islamic have attained throughout the years.

The presentation to Tadhamon International Islamic Bank was led by Maybank Islamic Deputy Chief Executive Officer, En Nor Shahrizan Sulaiman while Dr. Nurliza Mohd Mydin, Head Strategic Research & Reporting, Maybank Islamic presented to First Community Bank.

Mr. Mohamed Mbaye, Chairman of First Community Bank (FCB) said the session facilitated by Maybank Islamic Centre of Excellence has provided a better understanding on the regulation of Islamic financial services industry and Malaysia specific market which could potentially enhance their product offerings.

Mr. Muaadh Mohammed, compliance manager – secretary of fatwa and shariah commission from Tadhamon International Islamic Bank said the session was beneficial and enlightening as Maybank Islamic shared its vast experience in areas of Islamic finance and how they grew the bank from strength to strength despite the rising competitions and challenges.

First Community Bank (FCB) is Kenya’s first fully fledged Shariah compliant bank which has been in operations since 2008 while Tadhamon international Islamic Bank (TIIB), is one of the largest Shariah compliant bank in Republic of Yemen founded in 1996.
