Maybank Islamic Centre of Excellence engagement with Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Pakistan

Maybank Islamic hosted eleven post graduates students in MS Islamic Banking and Finance from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi at its head office in Dataran Maybank recently. The Institute of Business Administration is the oldest business school outside North America. It is a premier business school in Pakistan with a strong track record of over fifty years of producing quality undergraduates and post-graduates in Business.

The engagement was part of Group Islamic Banking thought leadership initiative under Maybank Islamic Centre of Excellence where is aims to be the reference point on Islamic finance and best practices for industry players, regulatory and academic fraternities and the general public within the areas of Shariah governance and the Islamic finance industry. The delegation from Karachi which was led by the Assistant Professor Institute of Business Administration, Dr. Saqib Sharif. During the visit, the delegation had a discourse with Maybank Islamic on the enhancement and dissemination of knowledge in the field of Islamic Finance through education and research as well as operational framework for a successful Islamic banking business. Maybank Islamic Deputy CEO, Nor Shahrizan Bin Sulaiman was joined by Maybank Islamic Head of Advisory, Innovation and Centre of Excellence, Nik Joharris Bin Nik Ahmad in the (2 hours discussion. Subsequently, the delegates were given the opportunity for a brief tour at Dataran Maybank branch by Head of Consumer Business, Federal Territory region, Zolkefli Bin Awang.

Maybank Islamic Centre of Excellence has carried out similar initiatives in the past and hosted several scholarly visits from other Islamic financial institutions and international organisations such as Astana International Financial Centre Kazakhstan, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance and Indonesian Banking Development Institute
