She has 23 years of experience in risk management spanning multinational, regional and local banks. Prior to joining Maybank IBG, Shima worked with OCBC Bank Malaysia for nearly 9 years where she first held the position of Head, Market Risk Management. Subsequently, she was appointed as Head of Internal Audit, covering both the conventional and Islamic Banking businesses. Shima has also held various senior roles in market risk management in Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia; Hong Leong Bank Berhad; and AmMerchant Bank Berhad (now known as AmBank Group).

Shima holds a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from Roosevelt University, Chicago, USA, and is a certified Financial Risk Manager under the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
