Winner of American Express ‘This BMW X6 Can be Yours' Campaign


"I was shocked, surprised and could not believe it was for real", was the first reaction by Lim Tiong Seng, when told he was the winner of the Grand Prize of a brand new, BMW X6 in the American Express Card's recent promotional Campaign - ‘This BMW X6 Can be Yours'.


The American Express promotion successfully drew three million entries that offered a Grand Prize of a BMW X6 and a total of 600 iPods prizes valued at more than RM1 million during the six-month campaign from 1 November 2008 to 30 April 2009.


"I used my American Express Card to buy everyday items as well as a diamond ring for my wife, and was only hoping to win an iPod," said Lim who works with a multinational corporation. "My wife was equally shocked with this pleasant surprise and I thank American Express for giving us a perfect wedding reward," said the American Express cardmember since 2008.


Under the ‘BMW X6 campaign', cardmembers who charged RM100 and above to their American Express Card, will be automatically eligible to participate in the contest. New cardmembers were entitled up to 50 entries once their American Express Card applications were approved.


"The unrivaled value of the American Express Card is in the exclusive rewards that we offer for everyday spend. The BMW X6 and iPods are such example - great rewards without any gimmick," said Lim Hong Tat, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Consumer Banking Maybank, at the prize presentation ceremony to the winners of the Campaign, which was recently held at Sapura Auto.


Lim said that the campaign received strong response given that the BMW X6 Grand Prize was one of the latest model being brought to Malaysia. "We believe the attractiveness of this Grand Prize and the 600 iPods were among the key drivers for American Express growth during the campaign period."


Lim also said that the brand strength of the American Express is its unsurpassed rewards programme all year round, for daily use as well as during campaigns. "Our latest rewards are Shop for Free or win up to RM500 cash rebate at the 1 Utama Mall in conjunction with the ongoing Malaysian Mega Sale. Cardmembers can look forward to more campaigns in the coming months."
