Petronas Maybankard Visa cardmembers, Azarul Ariff Bin Asa Ari, a supervisor from Klang and Yang Chee Yong a Manager from Johor were elated when told they were the two Grand Prize winners of the PETRONAS Maybankard Visa Contest to receive a Paddock Club Ticket each with Club Privileges worth RM14,400 each to watch the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix 2010 on 4 April 2010.
“I have always wanted to see the F1 but I never thought I would win. I still cannot believe I have won and I am happy Maybank has given me this great chance to watch it live,” said Azarul on hearing he had won the Grand Prize.
“A friend sent me a twitter of this contest and I am glad to have participated. I am excited to watch it and I am going to stay till this Sunday to catch the action in Sepang and cheer Malaysia's F1 team,” said Yang who came all the way from Johor to see the Grand Prix.
Maybank, PETRONAS and Visa International have teamed up to reward customers to witness one of the world’s most exciting Grand Prix events staged in Malaysia. The contest held from 15 February to 15 March 2010 was opened to PETRONAS Maybankard Visa and PETRONAS Ikhwan Visa cardmembers offering a total of RM650,000 worth of tickets to watch the PETRONAS Malaysian Grand Prix 2010 live at the Sepang International Circuit from 2 to 4th April 2010.
“We are happy to reward our cardmembers for their loyalty and provide them a once-a-lifetime experience to watch this high octane event close up. The Grand Prize winners will also have an exclusive experience of a Pit Lane walkabout. These rewards reinforce the high value privileges that we accord to our PETRONAS Maybankard Visa and PETRONAS Ikhwan Visa cardmembers,” said Ibrahim Hassan, CEO of Maybank Islamic Berhad at a special prize presentation to winners held at Menara Maybank. Also present were Mohd Nasran Shukery, Assistant Manager, Customer Management, Cards Department of Petronas Dagangan Berhad and Stuart Tomlinson, Country Manager Malaysia, Visa International.
For the two Grand Prize Winners who won exclusive Paddock Club Tickets each and the 40 First Prize Winners who gained passes to the Maybank Corporate Suite, a minimum spend of RM3,000 was required for one automatic entry.
The other prizes comprised 50 winners each for the 2nd to 4th Prizes and 10 winners for the 5th Prize. A minimum spend of RM50 was required for 1 entry which offered prize tickets to the Diamond, Ruby, Garnet and Crystal Grandstand respectively. In addition, cardmembers could double their entries with a minimum spend of RM50 at any PETRONAS Service Station.
Maybank is also offering a 8% discount up to 4th April 2010 to other Maybankard Credit or Debit Card members who wish to buy tickets for the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix 2010.
Ibrahim Hassan thanked cardmembers who participated, noting that more than 1.2 million entries were received during the one month period. “The campaign was successful in garnering a 24% increase in transactions alone at Petronas stations compared to the same period in 2009. The billings at Petronas stations also grew more than 39% over the same period with overall billings growing by 56%,” added Ibrahim Hassan.
Since the launch of PETRONAS Maybankard Visa in January 2008, new card take up has grown by 30% year-to-date in February 2010 compared to last year. "The increase in new card take-up is testimony of the high valued propositions as well as attractive benefits and rewards programmes for cardmembers," said Ibrahim Hassan.
Maybank and Petronas has partnered since the F1 Grand Prix started in 1999 and have held various joint campaigns enabling card member various rewards for using their Maybank Petronas Visa cards.
“Maybank has provided benefits and rewards for sport events for our cardmembers such as tickets to witness international sporting events from golf to soccer and to Formula 1 car racing. To celebrate the Bank’s 50th anniversary, cardmembers can expect even more rewards and benefits in the coming months,” said Ibrahim Hassan.
