  • Launched Maybank EzyQ, an online appointment management system for customers, making it the first bank in the country to introduce such a facility for a full suite of banking services.   • Introduced Malaysia’s first ever Social Impact Deposit, a campaign under its Islamic Fixed Deposit account (IFD-i). Customers are offered to place a fixed deposit and at the same time, help in extending financial relief to those whose incomes have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In June, Mayban-Phoenix Assurance Bhd — with the Bank holding 70% equity — is incorporated offering underwriting general insurance risks. The remaining 30% is held by British Phoenix Assurance. On October 10, 1986, Mayban-Phoenix Assurance is renamed Mayban Assurance.
