Maybank TreatsFair 2010 Returns On a Bigger Scale

Targets Sales Volume of RM10 million and over 180,000 visitors

Maybank TreatsFair 2010, the nation’s largest and award winning one-stop instant redemption loyalty Carnival is back. Recognised as the Best Effective Long Term Marketing Campaign at The Gold Dragon Promotional Marketing Award of Asia 2009 (PMAA) and Winner of the Globes 2009 Bronze Award at The Marketing Agencies Association WorldWide (MAA) awards, it is now in it’s sixth year targeting a 25% increase in sales volume as well as a similar percentage increase of total visitors over last year’s fair.

The four day TreatsFair from 8 July to 11 July 2010 at Mid Valley Mega Mall, Kuala Lumpur has more than 250 booths offering a wide range of products and services, ranging from consumer products to home appliances & electronics, automobiles, lifestyle and travel. The Carnival will also hold its very own Wheels of Treats offering a total of 10 million TreatsPoints and air tickets to holiday destinations like Bangkok, Jakarta and more. It will also feature entertainment by local artists.

The Maybank TreatsFair is the largest convenient shopping and cashless one-stop Carnival in the cards industry. Exclusive to Maybank cardsmembers, purchases can be made via on-the-spot redemption of rewards point at participating merchants for a range of goods and services.

“The TreatsFair brings Maybank’s brand experience on to the ground via instant redemption and great deals under one roof. This year’s TreatsFair is special as it coincides with the Bank’s 50th anniversary celebration and we are offering even greater value to the more than 180,000 visitors we are expecting at the Carnival. The TreatsFair offers tremendous savings for customers as they do not need to spend extra but only utilise their loyalty points. Our merchant partners are also offering exclusive prices during this Carnival which gives our customers even more savings,” said Lim Hong Tat, Deputy President and Head of Community Financial Services, Maybank at the launch today.

Also present were Ashraf Ali Abdul Kadir, Senior Executive Vice President, Consumer Finance, Maybank, B. Ravintharan, Executive Vice President, Cards & Unsecured Lending, Maybank, Sanjiv Malhotra, Vice President, Business Development Global Network Services, American Express International; Jim Cheah, Vice President, Senior Country Manager, Malaysia & Brunei, MasterCard Worldwide and Ng Kong Boon, Vice President, Business Development, VISA International.

Lim also said that this year’s TreatsFair is also introducing a number of innovative services for a loyalty programme in the card industry. “For the first time, customers can use their TreatsPoints to pay for their traffic summons as well as use their Maybank Credit or Debit Cards to pay for municipal council fees, namely the Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur Assessments at the Fair. American Express Cardmembers will also for the first time enjoy the Bank’s EzyPay facility, the most popular zero interest repayment scheme for purchases using cards.”

“The Maybank TreatsPoint is part of the Bank’s overall value proposition to our cardmembers to promote savings as well as cashless transactions. It also aims to support merchants in their marketing and sales efforts as well as play our part in stimulating economic growth. Customers receive TreatsPoints each time they use their cards for payment at participating merchants and for normal purchases. To date, we have rewarded over 26 billion TreatsPoints which cardmembers have accumulated, making it the largest and most comprehensive loyalty rewards programme offered by a card issuer. Given the wide range of products and services in this year's TreatsFair, we expect over 1 billion TreatsPoints to be redeemed,” added Lim.

This year, the TreatsFair activities are focused on providing holistic activities for cardmembers and their family. “We have also increased the CSR component in our TreatsFair to assist communities in need. This year we expect to raise RM30,000 through the auction activities of various products donated by merchants and the proceeds will be chanelled to UNICEF,” said Lim.
