Maybank’s 4-Day TreatsFair Targets over RM10M

Maybank expects its four-day TreatsFair to record over RM10m in sales and TreatsPoints redemption, representing a 30% growth over the previous year. The Bank also expects over 200,000 visitors in the four-day event, a 35% increase compared to 150,000 last year.

The TreatsFair 2009 was launched by Mr Lim Hong Tat, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Consumer Banking Maybank in Mid Valley Exhibition Centre Kuala Lumpur today. The Fair, which will run from 23 to 26 July 2009, is the country's leading on-the-spot redemption fair by a financial institution and is held in conjunction with the ongoing Malaysia Mega-Sale Carnival.

‘Since the first TreatsFair, our visitor numbers have grown steadily from 40,000 in 2005 to 150,000 last year. We have also seen significant interest among our merchants who regard this Fair as a top sales event, with more than 250 participating retailers compared to 200 last year," said Lim. "From our estimates, the Maybank TreatsFair generates approximately 10% of the crowd to Mid Valley Shopping Mall for the four-day period."

With more participating retailers, this year's fair promises more fun, more bargains and more sizzling must-have brands. Products made available during the four-day fair range from consumer merchandises and home & living items healthcares to fashion & beauty, electrical, IT & communications to recreational and travel packages.

TreatsPoints is Maybank's reward programme that offers loyalty points for payments via Maybank debit, credit or charge cards. The TreatsPoints do not have an expiry date and can be redeemed for a range of goods and services throughout the year.

"This Fair is unique as it allows customers to purchase items by using only their TreatsPoints and without additional spending. To date, Maybank cardmembers have accumulated over 28 billion TreatsPoints and these points are as good as cash to purchase any of the products or services at the Fair. This Fair provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy greater savings as it offers special prices and discounts which are only available at the event," added Lim.

Another feature of the event is the immediate issuance of Maybank credit cards to qualifying applicants for their shopping convenience. Every successful credit card applicant will receive a gift. Cardholders will also benefit from EzyPay, which offers zero percent interest repayment period of up to 36 months. Cardholders who spend RM300 on any Credit or Debit card issued by Maybank and Maybank Islamic at the TreatsFair will stand a chance to win two flight tickets to London. Customers who wish to convert their Maybank ATM cards into the Maybankard Visa debit cards will also be able to do so at the Fair.

For the Bank's platinum customers, there will be a dedicated platinum lounge to provide them with personalised customer service. A Maybank one stop centre is also available to attend to any financial enquiries as well as to offer financial advice to customers.

The Fair promises a carnival-like atmosphere for the whole family. There will be daily activities such as Brain Freeze Challenge by Baskin-Robbins, Maybankard TreatsPoints Auction, PETROSAINS Science Show, ISEC Special Eye Health Talk and Chef Zamzani's Cooking Demonstration. Visitors to the Fair will also be entertained by Maystripes, Maybank's own in-house band.

The event will also incorporate a CSR feature through the Maybankard TreatsPoints Auction that will be held each day. Customers can bid for valuable items using their TreatsPoints which will then be converted into cash by Maybank and channeled to UNICEF and Mercy Malaysia.
