Maybank today announced a special financial relief scheme for its customers and employees who are affected by the recent Bukit Antarabangsa landslide in Ulu Klang.

Maybank President and CEO, Dato' Sri Abdul Wahid Omar said, "We are rendering this assistance to our customers including employees living in this area. It is a tragic time for all the victims and their families, and this is our way of expressing our concern and compassion in line with our corporate responsibility role to render assistance in times of emergency or natural disaster."

Customers with consumer, automobile financing and business loans will be given a deferment of monthly installment payment for up to six months, on a case to case basis.

Credit card customers affected will be given the flexibility to defer their monthly instalment payments as well as free replacement of lost or damaged credit cards.

For customers with either savings, current or fixed deposits, they will be entitled to a waiver of charges should they need to replace ATM cards, cheque books and passbooks destroyed in the tragic incident.

For insurance policy holders, Maybank will ensure accelerated processing of claims for Maybank Motor Insurance and Personal accident policy holders on a case to case basis. On-site assessment for customers with Home Contents policies as well as payment of claims of up to RM10,000 will be done in three working days.

Maybank also announced a deferment in monthly premium payments for affected insurance policy holders on a case to case basis.

Customers who are facing other financial difficulties as a result of the incident in Bukit Antarabangsa are advised to call the bank's Customer Service Hotline at Tel 1 300 88 66 88.

"The assistance takes effect immediately and we will monitor the situation with our customers and employees. We will consider other measures of assistance on a needs basis if we find there are areas in which we can contribute positively to bring further relief, particularly during this year end festive and pre-school opening period when financial commitments are often higher for all, "he added.
